Brand New Hotel in Mauritius Joins the Combustion Technology Family

Combustion Technology was the proud supplier of burners and boilers to a newly built hotel on the beautiful island of Mauritius.  The hotel, The Grand Mauritian Hotel, is located in Turtle Bay.

The hotel is part of the Starwoods Hotel Group who own other luxury hotels around the world. The resort boasts 193 rooms and suites as well as two swimming pools.

The installation of all the equipment was managed by our extremely efficient agent in Mauritius, Rey and Lenferna.  The installation is working well and we are proud to be part of the growing economy on this Indian Ocean Island.

Climate Change Summit Held at Kirstenbosch, Cape Town

A three day Climate Change Summit was held from 21-24 July 2008 at the Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens in Cape Town by the newly established Fynbos Foundation, in association with Harvard University.

Marthinus van Schalkwyk, in his opening address at the conference "Practicing the craft: Writing about climate change and global warming",  warns that the Government will soon have to take some major and very difficult decisions about a future economic model for South Africa, when a study is presented on the long term impacts of climate change.

The study will give options for the Government to move away from the present overwhelming reliance on cheap but dirty coal for energy generation, towards establishing a low-carbon economy.

Climate change was now unavoidable and van Schalkwyk said that the Western Cape was already experiencing climate change and that we would definitely need to change the way that we lived in the near future.

In December 2009 the world will be facing an important change at a conference in Copenhagen, where developed countries will have to commit to cuts in greenhouse gas emissions, in terms of the revised Kyoto Protocol.

The Western Cape has already set itself a target to have 15% of its energy generated by renewable resources as well as reducing its greenhouse gas emissions by 15%, all by 2015.

Combustion Technology is committed to promoting environmentally friendly solutions to meet industry combustion and heating challenges.

Contact us for practical ways to help you to reduce your greenhouse gas emissions.

Another Mondipak Installation

Adam Leightley recently sold an Autoflame AF 300 to Mondipak in Nelspruit and completed the installation in June.

By installing the Autoflame Combustion Management System the company is hoping to reduce their fuel consumption by approximately 20%. Adam will be reporting back to us within the next three months on the outcome.

We are happy to report that their production has increased by 36% already in the two months since installation.

New Ducted Air Intake for Riello Burners

Riello Burners have developed a new ducted air intake kit for the Riello 40 Oil and Gas Burners.

To channel the external air directly into the burner, the upgraded version of the Riello 40 Burner has been equipped with a new ducted air intake. This is available as an accessory for the Riello 40 models.

This kit can be easily installed on site and the kit includes:

-  air intake
-  1 metallic plate to close the front grating for F3 and F5 models
-  2 metallic plates to close the front and lateral gratings for F10, F15 and F20 models
-  screws to fix the snorkel
-  screws and nuts to fix the metallic plate

New Direct Heating Applications with Low Temperatures

The new Riello Burners RS 28-38-50 VA series of sir duct burners with dedicated fan HAVE been designed for the installation in direct fired air heating duct systems with medium-low process temperature such as spray booths, drying ovens etc.

These burners are particularly suitable for situations where:

• Recirculated air is at high temperature – The correct quantity of combustion air is guaranteed thanks to the build in fax.

• High air delivery variability - The dedicated fan ensures that the surface of the combustion head is always in contact with a steady air flow, to guarantee the optimum mixture for the combustion in each part of the combustion head.

• Presence of impurities in the air – The protection of the combustion head from the primary air flow prevents impurities settling on the combustion module, ensuring long-lasting operation efficiency & reliability.

Recycle! Recycle! Recycle!

The most common container in the soft drink market is the plastic PET bottle. PET is the type of plastic resin labeled with the #1 code on or near the bottom of the bottles.

Recycled PET is used to manufacture fibre fill for duvets, pillows and sleeping bags; polyester carpets for cars; ceiling insulation and geotextiles for combating soil erosion.

So you see recycling can make a difference - do your bit for the environment!
